Chuma saw that Jamali had begun to follow, and smiled, slowing slightly to allow her to catch up. But they'd been trotting upstream only for a matter of moments before Chuma froze, hearing a deafening, throaty roar from somewhere above his head. He looked around wildly, crouching and baring his teeth at the unseen threat. He could smell the wild, hairy scent of at least one more lioness somewhere, but he couldn't see her.
His ears were suddenly filled with the rattle of many hooves, and a startled herd of reddish impala-like creatures dashed past, the living mass of animals splitting briefly into two to give Chuma and his companion a wide berth. He almost laughed in surprise: they didn't need to look for food, because the food had come to them! Shifting his weight subtly from a defensive crouch to a coiled hunting stance, he paused, gave Jamali a toothy grin, and pounced upon the nearest creature.
This one seemed to be young, as it was smaller than many of the others and its coat was speckled with white. It wailed and dodged sideways, stumbling slightly as Chuma's paw struck its flank, but then an adult had barged into the way, knocking the lion off-balance slightly. Chuma recovered quickly, leaping backwards to avoid the sharp, trampling hooves. He dodged right and left, surging now and then at an individual, but never managing to get one down and keep it there. "Damn you!" he roared at their retreating backs, slowing down as the last impala-things jumped away. What a stupid waste. "I could've caught them if I'd had some warning," he excused himself to no-one in particular, turning around to see that they'd been joined by two unfamiliar lionesses, one of which had managed to make the kill he'd missed. "Oh... hello?"

Sauda disengaged her jaws, looking surprised. One lion was one thing, but three? Her glance shifted from one female to the other, one of them looked very pampered indeed, as if she had never had to hunt in her life. Pretty, but pampered. The male was impressive enough. Could have even passed as handsome if Sauda hadn't been so hungry.
"Hello," she gave in a short reply before she dug into her catch. She didn't want her dinner getting cold. It was hard to find warm things in this place.

Rose had just finished her climb down from her perch and ran towards the prey. She ran as fast as she could spliting some of the herd away and then doing the same until the small herd was only left with two. Then with a small smirk she went after the smaller of the two. Rose then let a small smile curve her lips as she noticed that the bigger one seemed fidgity so with one small burst of speed she lunged towards the little one.

“Well, it's good to know we're not alone on this island at least,” Chuma said to the new lionesses. He looked closer at the one who had spoken: she seemed to be the only one who had had any success in hunting, and she was striking to see, darker and redder than he was used to with a distinctive line of dark fur marking her spine. She was chomping voraciously on the huddled form of her prey, and Chuma felt his stomach rumble.
“What’s your name?” he asked, but finished the final word prematurely as a sudden movement startled him. One of the lionesses had launched herself at a pair of stragglers from the herbivores, and Chuma almost followed her, wondering if he’d be able to rectify his mistake; but the animals were already running, and too far away for his chasing them to have any point. He sighed unhappily.

Sauda lifted her head as she tore a chunk of flesh from the limp carcass, her dark mouth lined with blood. She swallowed her mouthful of warm meat and licked her lips before replying to his question.
"Sauda. You look hungry." She moved over to give him room to tear his own meal off. "Have a flank, there's more than enough to go around." Her ears went back as she gripped onto another hunk of meat and tore that off as well, her claws digging into it to give her some leverage.
((I hope this isn't getting too graphic. It IS nature after all...))

((OOC: No, you're all right. Just don't start writing splatter fiction. XD))
Chuma smiled at the unexpected offer. "Thanks," he said, lowering his head enthusiastically to the still-warm meat. He got his teeth around a good-sized chunk before putting his paw down firmly to rip off his mouthful. It was the first thing he'd eaten since he'd woken up in that strange box, indeed since the last time he'd seen the golden savannahs of Africa. The meat was firm and red with a slightly strange aftertaste, and he gulped it down hungrily. Table-manners were a thing unknown among lions.
"Can my friend have some too?" he asked suddenly, remembering Jamali, and that it had been her hunger that had prompted them to hunt in the first place. He twisted his head back to see where she was.

Rose stopped her hunt when the two ran off. She smiled lightly while then using a claw to make a small slash into the ground. Then she walked over towards the others quietly. " Sorry if I messed up your hunt I didn't see you when I roared." She said while sitting down alittle ways from them " My name is Rose." She said while then looking over towards the lioness who was abit away from them. She used her head to indicate her to come closer to them. " What are all of your names?" She asked while then looking towards the two who were eating.

Jamali was confused; why on earth were Chuma and two new lionesses all suddenly running after the mass of weird long-legged animals? The animals resembled the critters found at her zoo which the zookeepers called 'gazelle'. But what stroke the startled lioness the most was when one of the new lions had managed to bring down a gazelle and started aparently torturing it (since she didn't know it was dead), biting through it's skin and making blood ooze out. "I think I'm gonna faint." she though in disgust, her stomach starting to churn. Why on earth were they all eating an animal when they could just as well wait for the zookeepers to hand them chunks of meat.
Jamali laid down away from them, wrinkling her nose at the savages. She had though Chuma was a nice lion, but it turned out he was a brutal barbarian, talking to the others in their weird language. Even though one of the lionesses signaled her to come closer, she frowned and turned her head away.

Creamy bod slunk along in the tall grasses, deep chocolate eyes on the weird beasts that grazed caressly ahead of her. It hadn't taken long for instincts to fill in, and she did remember her mother's teachings. Paws pressed slightly into the terra-firma, muscles tensed so much that they bulged beneath her pelt. She had to admit, she had to be especially cautious, halfly due to not hunting much, and that her pelt wasn't the most normal hue. Flicking her whip-like tail once, it brushed against the grass, but the dumb beasts were unthoughtful toward her. 'I Gotta be careful. Okay that one looks good, know one more step then I...
Suddenly, there was a deep roar, and the beasts were panicked into a wild run. Rising to her full height, the grass wisped across her shoulders.
"What the H.ell?"
Her smooth Swahili lyrics flowed threw her throat roughly, confused by the roar and sudden fleeing. Who would be so dumb to scare a herd of prey into a wild run? Shaking her cranium, she arched around and headed toward the direction the roar came from. Hey- it was worth a try to find out who did it. Plus, company wouldn’t be too bad.
She didn't travel far, before the scent of blood, and multiple lions filled her. Exhaling roughly, she stopped abruptly and looked around. 'Maybe I shouldn't go see. Plus, It's probably a pride..." She thought momentarily, before the calling of curiosity pulled her to continue her trek toward the lions. Toping a small crest of a hill, chocolate eyes caught the scene below. A few lions- four actually. Were around a kill, at first she started to walk down the hill, but paused as the ruffled mane of a male was sighted. She hesitated; fear stroke threw her bod, as she saw his fangs sliced threw steaming meat. 'Maybe, If I called out to them… Then If they are hostile, I could get away quicker...."
She exhaled deeply, creating a deep sigh. 'Well Here Goes...'
"Uhhh, Hello?"
Her smooth Swahili voice broke across the air, and hopefully the lions would here her from here.

Rose looked up at the new lioness and then with a soft smile she stood up and walked alittle closer. " Hello there." She called out while then looking over towards Jamali. She let out a small noise trying to get her to come closer. She knew by the way she wouldn't go over to the food as if it disgusted her that she hadn't been raised in the wild. Rose opened her mouth once and let out a small yawn she hadn't had alot of time to sleep in a while but she could go alittle longer without it.

"Chuma," the lion replied to Rose's question. He was frowning, worried, at Jamali: instead of coming towards the feast, she had turned her head away, her face full of disgust. He couldn't think what might have prompted it: a quick look around revealed no cheetahs or vultures trying to steal the prize, and anyway, they could easily have been dealt with. Perhaps she was nervous about eating unfamiliar meat?
Lowering his head again, he tore off a good chunk of the animal's leg, lifting it up to carry it over to the lioness. He noticed that Rose had also approached her, and was pleased that Jamali wasn't simply being ignored: and perhaps one of the other lionesses would speak her strange language.
A clear voice broke through the chilly air, and Chuma looked up to see another lioness, but one with shining fur white as a fish-eagle's belly. He gently placed the meat close to Jamali, giving her a brief smile, and then looked up at this newcomer. "Hello! What's your name?"
New lions appearing all the time, but no males to be seen yet... Well, they'd need social structure soon enough, and with this many lionesses he might even be able to found his own pride...! But all in time, all in time.

(ooc: room for one more? )
Pan was utterly and completely lost. The last few days had been chaotic and confusing. She had woken up, alone, somewhere entirely new and strange. It smelt peculiar, felt peculiar, sounded peculiar...it was an strange enclosure, Pan thought. She could not see any boundaries or wire walls, and she could not hear the comforting hum of human voices. Perhaps it was all a new game, Pan thought, both apprehensive and excited. She looked around eagerly. The pale surface of the river glittered white in the sunlight; she ran alongside it for the pure pleasure of running. There was a a faint scent in the air, a familiar-and-unfamiliar smell. Following the scent along the river, she suddenly heard a distant roar, even - she strained her ears - the suggestion of speech.
Her white coat clearly visible in the long grass, Pan quickened her pace, taking no trouble to hide the sounds of her movement - after all, she had never had to hunt or be wary in her life. Running over a grass ridge, she saw the figures of two - no, three - lions. She skidded to a stop, suddenly shy. They looked terribly big compared to her and she did not recognise a single one.
